The I'D is an efficient and smooth descending device for rope access work. We use it as a vital part of our Ropeworks harness system. Unlike the GRI GRI the latch on the body allows for quick placement on the rope without disconnecting the device from the harness, thereby minimizing the risk of dropping it (not available on the large ½” model). Although the additional safety features offered by the I'D take some getting used to, this device may be the most "fool-proof" on the market. A toothed cam prevents the device from failing if loaded backwards, and the "anti-panic" feature locks the rope if the handle is gripped too hard. A positive locked position is also available. The I'D can be used as a belay device and a progress capture devices in hauling systems, although other tools may serve these purposes better. Certified ANSI, OSHA, CSA, CE, UL Certified, and NFPA.
