| The Petzl Shunt is a part of the Ropeworks harness system, providing a back-up rope grab that can safely catch a technician in the event of main line failure. Other rope grabs, especially those with toothed cams, are more likely to damage the rope sheath or even the core in the event of a fall. The Shunt is easy to install, yet is resistant to dropping through a spring-loaded catch mechanism. It requires the addition of a small length of cord to form a tow lanyard. For rappel back-up for use with single (10 - 11mm) or double (8 - 11mm) ropes. |
