The following information is provided to help you understand the general pre-evaluation requirements for the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT). We also recommend reviewing the Physical
Requirements prior to registering for a training course. Further information can be found in greater detail in the current SPRAT Certification Requirements document. If you have additional questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
SPRAT LEVEL I (WORKER)
· No prior experience necessary
· Complete a four-day rope access training course from a qualified trainer (recommended, not required).
· Complete a level I written test
· Level I Field evaluation by a certified SPRAT Evaluator on day 5.
SPRAT LEVEL II (LEAD TECHNICIAN)
· Minimum of 6 months and 500 logged rope hours as a SPRAT level I (verification of SPRAT log book should be acceptable).
· Complete a four-day rope access training course from a qualified trainer (recommended, not required).
· Complete a level II written test
· Level II Field evaluation by an independent SPRAT Evaluator on day 5.
SPRAT LEVEL III (SUPERVISOR)
· Minimum of 6 months and 500 logged rope hours as a SPRAT level II. (verification of SPRAT log book should be acceptable)
· Complete a four-day rope access training course from a qualified trainer (recommended, not required).
· Complete a level III written test
· Level III Field evaluation by an independent SPRAT Evaluator on day 5.
SPRAT Certification Renewal
· If re-evaluating to a current level of certification, a refresher training of at least two days is recommended followed by an independent evaluation.
SPRAT Direct Entry Level II
Please note: Direct entry is reserved for qualified candidates with varied industrial rope access experience. Recreational climbing, caving and rescue utilizing single rope techniques does not generally qualify as industrial experience, although it greatly increases aptitude.
· Technicians will need to provide logged work experience of at least 500 hours working on a two rope system (hours preferably signed off by a supervisor, manager or client).
· Professional resume is recommended (pertaining to work at height and should include references)
· Complete a four-day rope access training course from a qualified trainer (recommended, not required).
· Complete a level II written test
· Level II Field evaluation by an independent SPRAT Evaluator on day 5
SPRAT Direct Entry Level III
